Newton-le-Willows Boys and Girls Club becomes long-term partner

Press Release

NBGC has been a main and now sole dedicated Youth Centre for those in the area.

It has remained operational for just over 60 years. It reduces the risk of local young people engaging in anti-social behaviour and crime which would adversely affect their future. The activities offered by NBGC develop the members’ skills including a wide range of personal and practical skills and the opportunity to explore and help identify their talents and interests.

Over time it has supported thousands of young people into maturity and guided them on to the correct path whilst improving their physical and mental well-being. NBGC has adapted its educational programme in response to the young people of the area and their needs.

In its club, the organisation has supported young people disclosing self-harm, CSE and those experiencing difficult family lives. Its space is a safe, supporting and nurturing environment offering a broad range of fun activities which gives the children a reprieve and time for themselves.

NBGC also works with various agencies to provide talks and information aimed at both the children/young people and parents/guardians.

As a long-term partner, we will contribute to core costs to support the delivery of the education, employment and training programme.

The programme provides volunteering opportunities onsite, college, university or work experience placements, guided pathways into potential career paths and offers the ability to undertake training and qualifications both on-site and off-site with partners.
