The Hive receives a long-term local Arete Foundation grant

Press Release

The Hive is a purpose-built facility in Birkenhead for young people aged 8 to 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs.

In the surrounding wards of The Hive, there are high concentrations of childhood deprivation with at least 1 in 3 children living in poverty. It provides 3,000 members with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.

Activities include dance, sport, media and music and facilities include a climbing wall, boxing gym, music suite, salon, art room, rooftop football pitch and sensory room.

Qualified youth workers support young people across a range of issues, from mental health and healthy relationship workshops and life skills to help finding work.

Our grant will support Hiveability, a programme of dedicated sessions at The Hive each week for up to 100 young people with additional needs.

The programme is designed to help young people be the best version of themselves they can be, providing holistic support for young people in developing skills which will benefit them in all aspects of life.
